The Music for Hope: A Charitable Recital is a recital to raise funds to support piano lessons for students in need (including NEPTA students). Its creation was inspired by the crossroads of COVID-19 and racial injustice to provide hope through music. 100% of donations received beyond the recital registration fee will go toward this fund.
The NEPTA Competitions include the Mildred Freiberg Middle School Competition (grades 6, 7, 8), the Ruth Davidson Competition (grades 9 and 10) and the Alice Hamlet Competition (grades 11 and 12).
The A. Ramón Rivera Awards provide one $150 award and one $100 award to the best performance of a required contemporary composition in the Alice Hamlet and Ruth Davidson Competitions. These awards were created to foster an interest for both students and their teachers to explore new works composed after 1950.
The Margaret C. Bachelder Award is in memory of former NEPTA President, Peg Bachelder, to provide an award for the best performance of a Romantic piece in the Alice Hamlet Competition.
The Nancy Oliva Award provides three $35 awards each year to 7th graders who have performed in the Intermediate I recitals and who study in an independent studio.
The Wanda Paik Award provides four $100 awards each year to 8th graders who have performed in the Intermediate II recitals and who study in an independent studio.
The Alice Proctor Award is awarded for an outstanding original composition in the classical style.
The Susan B. Demb Teacher Enrichment Program was established in honor of retired member Sue Demb for the purpose of fostering teaching excellence. It provides teacher grants and special lecture programs.
