SUMMARY:Halloween Recitals
DESCRIPTION:This is a recital open to NEPTA members for grades K-6 providing an opportunity to perform in a friendly setting. Costumes and Halloween music are welcome and encouraged! The time limit for each student is 2 minutes. Memory is optional. Multiple recitals will be hosted beginning at 3:00 pm. Teachers may not request a specific recital time\, but can request earlier or later in the afternoon. \nINSTRUCTIONS \nThe recital fee is $32 per student. Teachers may enroll up to 15 students. Recitals will be filled on a “first come first serve” basis. Recital fees are non-refundable unless an application is denied due to all recital slots being filled. Total performance time per student may not exceed 2 minutes. Teachers will receive the student’s recital time via email no later than October 15th. \nGrade in school: K-6\nTime limit: 2 minutes per student \nRegistration fee: $32\nOlga Berkovich\, chair: halloween@nepta.com\n(Application deadline: October 4\, 2026) \nActive members of NEPTA are privileged to present their students in recital providing a performance opportunity for secure and fluent performers. Eligibility for Halloween Recital: student must have studied piano since September of the current academic year with this same member in good standing (dues received by Recital Application Deadline). DESCRIPTION:“Sonic Time Travel: Great Pianists of The Past “\nThis is a Zoom event.  Guests may register here for $20 to attend.  \nRecordings can bypass the constraints of time and space\, enabling us to hear great musicians in our own home – including legendary performers who lived long before we were born. Historical recordings are more than just a curiosity: they offer a form of sonic time travel in providing a direct transmission from important artists – and even composers – playing in ways that often vary radically from present-day norms. \nIn this presentation\, historical recordings expert Mark Ainley will share the sublime music-making of some master pianists of the past. As he explores these legendary musicians and what makes their performances so extraordinary\, Mark will help you open your ears and expand your perspectives so you can perceive music in new ways and reconsider the nature of interpretation. \nMark Ainley is an internationally-known historical piano recordings expert who for forty years has explored the lives and artistry of pianists whose playing has been preserved since the dawn of recording technology. He has both co-produced the publication of long-lost recordings and written booklet notes and magazine articles about historical recordings\, and he is particularly known for his pioneering work in locating and releasing unpublished recordings of the iconic pianist Dinu Lipatti. The author of the Historical Perspectives column in International Piano magazine\, Mark presents both in writing and in live presentations insightful biographical insight\, cultural context\, and musical observations\, highlighting in accessible language the qualities that can make musical performances so captivating and memorable. \n
